 d manner. While women were responsible for domestic duties such as sewin
 g and laundry\, they were also expected to uphold and epitomize the fami
 ly's social status. In a 2:00 p.m. slide talk\, Kristina Haugland\, Asso
 ciate Curator of Costumes and Textiles at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
 \, will examine the social background behind the evolution of Victorian 
 fashions such as corsets\, hoop skirts and bustles as well as attempts t
 o reform women&rsquo\;s dress and redefine their social position. Actual
  undergarments and also examples of Durand-Hedden&rsquo\;s Victorian clo
 thing collection will be on view.&nbsp\;\n1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Visitors can 
 also enjoy light refreshments\, see the exciting new exhibit\, "After th
 e Hickories: Roosevelt Park" and visit the Country Store for unique gift
 s and souvenirs.&nbsp\;\nThe Durand-Hedden House is an historic house mu
 seum dedicated to telling the story of the history and development of Ma
 plewood and the surrounding area in new and engaging ways. The House and
  surrounding Grasmere Park were designated a Maplewood Historic Landmark
