From Granados to Garth: Guitar through the Ages

Columbia High School, 17 Parker Ave, Maplewood, NJ | Get Directions »
$10.00

From Granados to Garth: Guitar through the Ages is a mix of recital and lecture performed by singer/songwriter Andy Hackbarth—he’ll play pieces from all sorts of genres, from classical to jazz and rock to bluegrass, and talk a bit about the styles and characteristics and techniques used, as well as how culture influenced guitar. It promises to be a really great night, especially since he interacts so well with an audience.

Hackbarth, who tours nationally with his band, has played guitar since the age of seven and studied classical guitar since the age of 11. While his love of songwriting eventually won out over his love of classical performance, he always incorporates classical pieces in his shows. He is based out of Denver, but has performed nearby in the past, including at The Bitter End and Caffe Vivaldi in NYC a few years back.

Also, Maplewood commuters will recognize the cover of Andy Hackbarth’s latest album, The Last Love Song; it’s our very own train station!

And just a reminder to the younger musicians out there—Adult School classes are open to adults and teens ages 14 and up!

Course: 0018. Fee: $10. Thursday, March 1, 7:00-9:00pm, CHS, Black Box Theatre
