Join the Ethical Culture Society of Essex County and pianist Birgit Matzerath on a listening journey through the magnificent and inspiring music of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 2, which will be presented in its entirety between February 1st and April 20th 2013. Today's introductory lecture gives historical background of the work, and a guideline to listening to the music.
It will be followed by 6 mini-recitals every other Sunday morning at 10:15, beginning February 3rd, and concluded with a recital featuring the entire work on Saturday, April 20th.

The duration of the mini-recitals on Sunday mornings is approximately 30 minutes.
We encourage you to listen to at least one piece of your choice every day in between the sessions. A link to the recording and a possibility to share experience will be available.

More About The Ethical Culture Society of Essex County
The Ethical Culture Society of Essex County is part of the American Ethical Union and takes as its guiding principle: "our highest human ideal is to act so as to elicit the best in others and thus ourselves." A main focus of the members is exploring philosophical and current questions of the day.
The Essex County chapter, located at Prospect and Parker since 1951, has a had several leaders over the course of its history. Presently, the lay leadership is presiding at the weekly platform presentations and at special events. Boe Meyerson and Jim White are Leaders Emeriti. Jim White now serves as Leader at another Ethical Culture Society in Riverdale, NY.
