Come join us on Memorial Weekend Sunday to learn how we can support our veterans through the Voluntary Service Program of the VA New Jersey Health Care System at the 11AM Sunday, May 29, 2011, Platform of the Ethical Culture Society of Essex County, 516 Prospect St., Maplewood, NJ. If you have ever wondered what you could do for the "special men and women who fought so bravely to preserve our freedom"*, our veterans, this is your opportunity to listen and learn from Tyrone Steed, Voluntary Service Program Manager, Voluntary Service, Department of Veterans Affairs of New Jersey Health Care System.
As Voluntary Service Program Manager of the East Orange campus, Tyrone has worked for the Federal Government for 31 years and at the VA New Jersey Health Care System for 29 years. In his role as Program Manager, he works with programs and services that are supported by donations of material and financial resources.
Tyrone communicates with volunteers and leaders of Veteran's Service Organizations (VSO's), and community organizations through established ceremonies, activities, meetings and visits to various posts and chapters, and conventions throughout New Jersey. Voluntary Service works to enhance: Recruitment of volunteers; Fundraising; Managing and distributing material donations; and Coordinating special events and programs.
On this Memorial Weekend Sunday come and learn what each of us can do to help our veterans.
Sunday Platforms are at 11:00 AM at the Ethical Culture Society of Essex County. The Society is located at 516 Prospect St., Maplewood (at Parker Ave.). Attendance is free. The public is welcome and cordially invited. Call 973-763-1905, or visit www.essexethical.org for further information.

More About The Ethical Culture Society of Essex County
The Ethical Culture Society of Essex County is part of the American Ethical Union and takes as its guiding principle: "our highest human ideal is to act so as to elicit the best in others and thus ourselves." A main focus of the members is exploring philosophical and current questions of the day.
The Essex County chapter, located at Prospect and Parker since 1951, has a had several leaders over the course of its history. Presently, the lay leadership is presiding at the weekly platform presentations and at special events. Boe Meyerson and Jim White are Leaders Emeriti. Jim White now serves as Leader at another Ethical Culture Society in Riverdale, NY.
