CAROLYN DORFMAN DANCE COMPANY ANNOUNCES 2014 PERFORMANCE SEASON

Carolyn Dorfman, Founder and Artistic Director of the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company (www.cddc.info), is pleased to announce the company’s 2014 performance season schedule. Highlights will include a new commission by the multi-faceted artist and award winning choreographer, Peter Chu; a unique art gallery experience, “All the World’s a Stage,” at Aljira in Newark, NJ featuring CDDC and visual artist, Carl Hazelwood; and a joint performance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) with choreographer Randy James and his all male company, 10 Hairy Legs. This season features performances and residencies throughout NJ, NY, nationally and internationally.

Dorfman and Company members travel this month to Germany for research on Dorfman’s new project, Traces and Paths, a work about memory, history, legacy and the present. An abstract work that will weave global images and music with stories of individual and collective lives; it will explore our interconnectedness across time, distance and circumstance.

“I am thrilled to announce this season, one that embraces all that CDDC stands for:  creation, performance, teaching and multi-level impact on the audiences and communities we touch.  It is exciting to see our repertory come alive in the studio, on stage and to see our arts education programming in full swing. I look forward to our performances and community connection throughout NJ/NY and on tour. I travel to Hamburg and Berlin this week to continue researching, teaching and creating in Germany. This is pivotal to my new work and its direction. Do join me for the ride and for CDDC’s amazing upcoming season!”

About the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company: The Union-county based company is led by the dynamic vision of Artistic Director Carolyn Dorfman and her creative drive to communicate human experiences, interactions, perceptions, and truths. CDDC’s ten members comprise a uniquely talented contemporary dance ensemble. The Company described as  “ingenious” (Star-Ledger) and “emotionally resonant” (New York Times) presents the works of Carolyn Dorfman, and nationally known choreographers.  With bold athleticism, dramatic nuance, and musical range, CDDC's high-energy and technically demanding repertory uses movement as metaphor to take audiences on intellectual and emotional. CDDC appears at major theaters, dance festivals, and universities regionally, nationally and internationally and is lauded for its artistry and exceptional arts education and community programming.
