Free Children's Concert & Music Blast Off!

Maplewood Community Music is proud to present its Annual Classical Children’s Concert designed for students of all ages and their families on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 3 – 4 p.m. at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts, 10 Durand Road, Maplewood, NJ.  Immediately following the concert, MCM will hold its first ever Music Blast Off! -- an ear, eye and hands-on music activities event.  Both the concert and Music Blast Off! are FREE and open to the public.

Under the direction of Tom McGee, the Maplewood Community Band will perform its annual concert for children ― the cornerstone of its youth music enrichment programs – including selections from the Renaissance, Romantic and Modern eras of music.  Children (and their parents) just might find themselves marching in the aisles to Gustav Holst or dancing to the folk themes of Georges Bizet.  Hearing the echoing style of Giavonni Gabrieli may inspire listeners to respond to the calls of the smaller instrumental choirs.

After the concert, join us for our first ever Music Blast Off! event.  The kids will have a "blast" as they "blast off" into the exciting and inspiring galaxy of music. By moving the music off the stage, students and their families will be able to interact with our musicians as they demonstrate their instruments, try out the instrument zoo, play music-based games and have fun with other music activities.
