Conflicting Debates Tonight in Maplewood

Two simultaneous debates will be held Thursday night for the Maplewood Township Committee and SOMASD Board of Education candidates.

Maplewood voters will have to choose between two debates tonight.

The second Board of Education public forum will be held by the League of Women Voters at 7:30 p.m. at the Maplewood Middle School auditorium.

Candidates include incumbents Elizabeth T. DaughertyDavid K. Giles and newcomers Stephanie M. Lawson-Muhammad and Johanna Wright.

Daugherty, Giles and Lawson-Muhammad are running a joint campaign.

Another debate will be held for the three Maplewood Township Committee candidates vying for one seat currently occupied by Committeemen Marlon K. Brownlee. The candidates are Brownlee, Art Gartenlaub and Kurt Kiley.

The forum will be held by the Hilton Neighborhood Association at 7:30 p.m. in the DeHart Community Center, located at 120 Burnett Ave.
