Deadgood Week Begins Monday in Maplewood

Deadgood Events are a local Maplewood company run by Gareth and Liz Jones featuring a week of events at the Burgdorff Center for the Arts.

[Updated: Monday, Sept. 16]

Deadgood Week has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict, said event organizer Gareth Jones.

the only thing we have been able to salvage at all is on Wednesday, when we will be starting work with cast and crew for this year's "Very British Pantomime", called "Wotcha! Gotcha!," he said.

Members of the public are welcome to come along and see what's going on, or to indulge their curiosity and find out just what a "Panto" is anyway.

The other Deadgood  event in the near future is the murder mystery we are running in conjunction with the Library Foundation at the Library on October 11th, "Death in the Stacks," he said. Click here for more details.

The other events which were scheduled for Deadgood may reappear elsewhere, elsewhen, or in a slightly different form at some time in the future but not right now, we're busy working on other things, he added.

Anyone who wants a Deadgood Event of their own, whether in their own home, as a corporate event or team building exercise, or as part of a fundraiser, should get in touch at 973-761-0547 or email ondeadgoodevenings@comcast.net.

Deadgood Week is coming to the Burgdorff Center for the Arts this week in Maplewood.

Deadgood Events are a local Maplewood company run by Gareth and Liz Jones, who started in 2011 by bringing their love of their countries culture mixed with some new ideas for American audiences.

They run events in private homes, local restaurants and once a chateau in France, all with their witty Deadgood humor and charm, they said on their website.

“We started with some murder mystery dinner parties but have since expanded into various other things, most noticabley the 'Panto,” they said. “The January one sold out completely for the whole run, and we are doing it again with 'Wotcha! Gotcha!' in December.”

“The Panto has become our yearly charity event - last year we raised about $3,500 and this year we hope to raise more,” they added.

Their events include

  • Behind the scenes at "Wotcha! Gotcha!" on Monday, Sept. 16 and Tuesday, Sept. 17
  • An Improv Comedy Night on Wednesday, Sept. 18
  • A game show on Thursday, Sept. 19
  • A one-man, comedic show about some very old tales on Friday, Sept. 20
  • The adventure that is "Murdarrr an the Spanish Main" on Saturday, Sept. 21

The events are held at the Burgdorff Center for the Arts, located at 10 Durand Road in Maplewood.
