Maple Leaf Awards Nominees Wanted

The Maplewood Civic Association is currently seeking nominees for the 2013 Maple Leaf Awards. The awards will be presented at a luncheon on Sunday, April 15 at L'Affaire in Mountainside.

The Maple Leaf Award recognizes residents who have provided outstanding, unpaid volunteer work the Maplewood community. Although the committee would prefer Maplewood residents, non-residents who have spent many years doing volunteer work for Maplewood will be considered.

Volunteer activities may span many years or be an intense shorter term involvement of several years.  Past recipients have been involved with a number of organizations and activities including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, First Aid Squad, Strollers, PTAs, churches and temples, coaching of various sports, Garden Club and Durand-Hedden House.

Include contact information for the candidate and some information about why the candidate is being suggested, i.e. some sort of a resume of their activities that includes approximate length of their involvement in a group, whether it is a long time involvement with one group or participation in multiple organizations. 

. 2011's winners were Janet Crane, Mark Mucci, and Irene Kosinski. 2010's winners were Dr. Elizabeth Jones Crandall, Dr. Charles Crandall, Bruce Mandel of the Maplewood Volunteer First Aid Squad and Nancy S. Sobieski.

The deadline to submit names is no later than the end of January.
