Maplewood July 4th Celebration Takes Over Memorial Park

July Fourth Committee of the Maplewood Civic Association will host its 112th annual July 4th Celebration at Memorial Park featuring food, fireworks and contests.

The skies over Maplewood will be glittering with fireworks, with a circus, family-friendly contests and games entertaining during the day at the annual July 4th Celebration.

July Fourth Committee of the Maplewood Civic Association has organized its 112th event kicking off at 8 a.m. July 4 at Memorial Park.

The event's creation spurred when various neighborhoods competed with showy parades, picnics, costumes, bands and contests that depleted money. The July Fourth Committee formed to restore a sense of unity throughout Maplewood.

This year, the 4th of July festivities kick off with a 5K run that benefits the Columbia High School cross-country team and caps off with the traditional fireworks display.

Vendors from local businesses such as Able Baker, Park Wood Diner, Gleason Cleaners and Words Bookstore will provide food and fun.

For a complete list of events and their scheduled times, interested persons may visit the Maplewood 4th website.

Tags grant admission to the celebration's fireworks, concert and circus events and may be purchased in advance for $15, which gives tag holders admission to both the circus and firework show.

Tags may be purchased at the gate for $10 for the fireworks show and $10 for the circus.

Pre-sale tags are available at the town hall clerk's office, the Main Branch and Hilton Branch libraries, and the Town Hall and De Hart Park recreation departments.

Prospective volunteers may call the volunteer coordinator at 973-339-7399 to sign up to help.
