Maplewood Mayor To Perform Same-Sex Marriages

The Maplewood Township Clerk's office will issue marriage licenses to same sex partners on Friday, October 18th between the hours of 9:30am and 4:30pm.

In response to the September 27th ruling by Judge Mary C. Jacobson that same sex partners in New Jersey have the right to marry, Maplewood Mayor Victor De Luca will be available to perform marriage ceremonies on Monday, October 21st.

The Maplewood Township Clerk’s office will issue marriage licenses to same sex partners on Friday, October 18th between the hours of 9:30am and 4:30pm. Applicants are required to wait 72 hours after obtaining the license before the marriage ceremony can take place.

Please note that the New Jersey Supreme Court has been asked by the governor to stay Judge Jacobson’s ruling. If the Supreme Court issues a stay prior to October 21st, the Township of Maplewood will act accordingly.
