Maplewood Resident Among Top 30 Entrepreneurs

Chrishan Wright is hoping to launch WE Biz, a weekly podcast and online community for women entrepreneurs.

Maplewood resident Chrishan Wright recently became a semifinalist in the Rising Tide Capital Start Something Challenge. She entered hoping to fund her business idea, WE Biz, which would create an online community and support network for women entrepreneurs.

Wright’s idea for WE Biz began after she enrolled in the Mini-MBA in Digital Marketing at the Rutgers University Center for Management Development.

She later met with Jessica Federman, a woman who enrolled in the same Rutgers University program and was working on starting a company called  Mindshuffle Marketing. Following that conversation Wright recorded a YouTube video about WE Biz and decided to enter the competition.

According to the Start Something Challenge information page, the competition is “a statewide pitch competition and business strengthening opportunity for New Jersey entrepreneurs.” The grand prize for the winning entrepreneur is a $10,000 business grant.

If launched, WE Biz will be a weekly podcast and online community for women entrepreneurs.
