PSE&G Restores Maplewood Power

About 15,000 customers in the area were in the dark for six hours Monday night.

Power has been restored to Maplewood after an outage that left parts of Maplewood, Newark and Irvington in darkness for six hours Monday night.

“About 15,000 customers were without power because of an issue at PSE&G’s Irvington substation,” said PSE&G spokesperson Lindsey Puliti.

The power went out around 10 p.m. Monday night and was restored by 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, she said.

Temperatures went as low as 32 degrees during the night, according to The Weather Channel.

The cause of the outage is still under investigation, said Puliti.

If any resident is still without power, they should contact PSE&G, the township said in a NIXLE alert.
