Strollers of Burgdorff Center for Performing Arts Announces 2014-15 Season

The Stollers' season opens Sept. 19.

The Strollers, the community theater residence at the Burgdorff Center for Performing Arts, will make audiences laugh, contemplate and explore as it prepares to enter its new season.

The residence announced its 2014-15 lineup yesterday, kicking off its run with an evening of comedy. The season schedule is as follows: 

"Comedy Tonight: And Evening of Sketch Comedy."
When: Sept. 19 and 20 at 8 p.m.; Sept. 21 at 2 p.m.
What: The 90-minute show features brings music and original, SNL-style comedy for attendees of all ages.
Price: $10, free with season ticket.

"Clybourne Park"
When: Nov. 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 8 p.m.; Nov. 9 at 2 p.m.
What: The Pulitzer Prize winning play by Bruce Norris merges drama and comedy while tackling racial issues by taking a closer look at the lives of characters from Lorraine Hansberry's "Raisin in the Sun" as well as the lives of people living through gentrification in 2009.
Price: $20 for adults, and $15 for students and seniors

"How the World Got Wisdom: A Collection of African Folktales, Songs and Dances"
When: Jan. 23 and 30 at 7 p.m.; Jan. 24, 25, 31 and Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.
What: The show, directed, choreographed and written by Stroller member Carol Cornicelli, is based on a number of works in African culture and is performed by children in the community. The production highlights and embraces cultural differences and diversity between the many cultures within the African continent.
Price: $10

"Fuddy Meers"
When: March 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 8 p.m.; March 8 at 2 p.m.
What: The production follows the events that transpire after a woman named Claire is stricken with amnesia. Her husband and teenage son must try to make impressions on her life to restore her memory. One day, Claire is kidnapped by a strange man claiming her husband is trying to kill her. And just what does Fuddy Meers mean? Come to the show and find the answers.
Price: $20 for adults, and $15 for students and seniors.

"Hairspray"
When: May 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m.; May 3 and 10 at 2 p.m.
What: The hit musical caps off the Stollers' season. The musical tells the story of Tracy Turnblad whose dream it is to dance on a popular show for teens. When she makes it onto the show, she becomes an overnight sensation and starts a campaign to integrate the show.
Price: $25 for adults, and $20 for students and seniors.
