Local business owners Alan and Rosetta Weiser of Village Wine Shop will be retiring and selling the store, they announced Tuesday.

The couple, which has run the store for the past 17 years, will be handing the Village Wine Shop over to its new owners in early February.

"Alan and Rosetta have not only owned and operated a wonderful Village business, they have also spent countless volunteer hours helping to maintain our vibrant downtown," said Maplewood Village Alliance Manager Julie Doran. "We thank them and will miss their presence in the Village."

Alan and Rosetta Weiser announced their retirement in a letter to the Maplewood Village Alliance:

After over 17 Years we are selling the Village Wine Shop and retiring.

It has been a wonderful experience for us.

We have had the pleasure to meet so many and come to know them. During this time we saw families come to Maplewood and we watched them grow and send their children off to college.

Being part of the Maplewood community is much more that just having a business in town. It was very personal and one that we will never forget. While we will no longer be in the wine shop we are staying in Maplewood because it is our home.

Thank you so much for all those wonderful years.

See you in the Village!

Rosetta & Alan
