Waldo is Hiding Again in Maplewood—Can You Find Him?

Fun, annual contest returns to town—find Waldo hiding out in local businesses and win prizes!

Waldo is celebrating his 26th birthday here in Maplewood, and if you spot him enough, you could win prizes, including stickers, coupons and more.

It’s part of a month-long celebration of Waldo and small businesses. Where's Waldo publisher Candlewick Press is again teaming up with the American Booksellers Association and 265 independent bookstores all across the country, including Words Bookstore in Maplewood, to encourage communities to patronize their local stores.

Here's how it works: there is a 6-inch cardboard Waldo hiding in shops and restaurants in Maplewood. Pick up your "Find Waldo" passport at Words Bookstore (or print out a Passport here) then get your passport stamped or signed at participating businesses in town for each Waldo you spot.

The first 100 Waldo seekers to get their passports stamped or signed at ten or more sites can bring their passports back to Words to get a Waldo sticker. Spot Waldo at 20 stores and be entered into a grand prize drawing and celebration at 4 p.m. on  Thursday, July 25 at Words. The top prize is a six-volume deluxe set of Waldo books.

Since its creation by Martin Handford in 1987, Where’s Waldo books have been popular worldwide. There are now over 58 million Waldo books in print worldwide and they’ve been translated into eighteen languages.
