Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage In Maplewood Welcomes Ken Pettis

MAPLEWOOD, N.J.  – (October 3, 2013) – Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Maplewood is pleased to announce that Ken Pettis has affiliated himself with the full-service real estate office after a career in financial services and corporate finance that spanned almost 30 years. Pettis has lived in Maplewood for 26 years and has very deep roots in the Maplewood and South Orange communities. He said he is very much looking forward to further assisting his neighbors as their trusted real estate advisor. Pettis serves home buyers and sellers in Essex, Morris and Union counties.

Pettis was elected to the Maplewood Township Committee from 2004-2008, serving as mayor, vice mayor and in several committee and liaison positions. He has also been appointed for a term on the Maplewood Planning Board and two terms on the Maplewood Zoning Board of Adjustment, the latter on which he currently serves. Pettis was a Democratic Party District Leader for Maplewood and was elected to the Maplewood Democrat Hall of Fame in 2012. He was also a founding member and trustee for the Maplewood/South Orange Community Coalition on Race, serving from 1996-2010. 

An active volunteer in the Maplewood community, Pettis has been awarded the Maplewood Civic Association Maple Leaf Award as Volunteer of the Year, and the Maplewood/South Orange Community Coalition on Race Award for Contributions to Creating an Inclusive Society. His past activities have included co-founding and serving as president of the Hillcrest Road Block Association and Hillcrest Neighborhood Association, membership and vice-presidency of the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce, coaching softball and soccer, and volunteering as a mentor for male students of color at Maplewood Middle School. Pettis was a parent volunteer at Seth Boyden School and also held the same role at Clinton School in the past. He is an alumnus and recruitment volunteer with more than 30 years of involvement in A Better Chance, an organization offering greater educational opportunities to children of color. Pettis has also volunteered as alumnus/recruiting volunteer with the Brown Alumni Schools Committee and The Taft School where he also served a term as a member of the Board of Trustees. He is a member of Maplewood Theater Group, The Strollers; South Orange Theater Group, InterACT Theater Productions; and was organizer/leader of the Maplewood South Orange Pond Tour.
