NBC Reveals New Home to Maplewood Family

"Is this our house?" asked a stunned Carolyn Burbank when she saw her newly renovated home for the first time. Burbank and her family were the recipients of a home renovation courtesy of NBC's home improvement show "George to the Rescue," which renovates homes to change people's lives. On Monday, the day of the big "reveal," the family returned to their home after three weeks away.

NBC and Friends Make New Home for Maplewood Family

In the past six months, the Burbank family of Maplewood has been through steep challenges. After Carolyn and Eric Burbank's son, , the family has struggled to adapt to their "new normal." The Burbanks have deep roots in Maplewood. 

After the accident, the community banded together to offer help in ways large and small, visiting, making meals and organizing fundraisers to help the family afford home renovations to accommodate Ryan's needs. 

Woman's Club President: "Not Happy" Sale of Property Collapsed

The president of The Maplewood Woman's Club,which recently was put back on the market after a long-anticipated deal fell through when the buyer backed out, is not happy with the turn of events.

“We’ve been doing everything we can do to move this forward," said President Joane Aponte in a press release. "There are people that are working against us in the sale of this property.”

Maplewood Woman's Club is Back on the Market

After more than three years of lawsuits and delays, The Woman's Club of Maplewood is back on the market, after the original buyer backed out.

The historic property at 60 Woodland Road is currently listed for $1,999,900, according to Caroline Farnsworth of Keller Williams Mid-Town Direct Realty in Maplewood Village.

HK Project is coordinating a fundraising drive to help the family of a recently deceased Columbia High School alumna to bury their granddaughter. Cassandra Duke, 20 years old, passed away on January 23 from complications of the flu and pneumonia.
