St. James's Gate Faces Liquor License Suspension

An assault case stemming from a January incident at St. James's Gate Publick House has been settled and all charges were dismissed Thursday, both parties said. Three months after an alleged assault at the popular Maplewood bar, the case ended with both men shaking hands and apologizing.

The pub also faces charges brought by the town that it allegedly served a minor. A hearing on those charges will be held in May.

Columbia High School is ranked number 36 in New Jersey in this year's U.S. News and World Report’s Best High Schools ranking released Tuesday.

In the fifth edition of the ranking, Columbia's national ranking on the list was 757th out of 21,000.  The school did receive a silver medal from the publication for how it compared to other schools based on U.S. News ranking criteria.

 

Lauryn Hill To Be Sentenced Today on Tax Evasion Charges

Singer and CHS alum Lauryn Hill appeared before a U.S. District Court Judge Monday to be sentenced for failure to file income taxes, officials in the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. The sentencing was later adjourned until later in May.
