Maplewoodians Take Center Stage!

Movers, shakers and sweet treat makers—we've got 'em!

Local Gal Goes Glossy!

Flip through this month's Parenting magazine and you'll see the artistic visions of Maplewood's very own sweet treat guru, Laura Himmelein, on display! The glossy publication features no less than four pages of Himmelein's ghoulishly delightful takes on Halloween tricks, treats and crafts.

Himmelein's deliciously creative personalized sweets for soirees business 'Party Cake, Party Cake' has already made her a hit with local party goers. It's nice to see a local gal get such a splendid national spotlight!

Sharon K. McGahee (nominated for reappointment at Ramapo College)

Richard W. Roper (reappoint for Brick City Development Corporation Board of Directors)

Um, guys- if you get the chance, could you ask him to throw some love our way in terms of the school budget? I'm still paying off the interest on the list of supplies I had to send the kids to school with this year... I mean our taxes AND I have to provide paper towels?! Really?!

Summer Gone, Ice Cream Trucks Linger to the Point of Stalking

If you've got kids in Maplewood, they'll find you...boy, will they find you.

Doesn't matter if it's after school, in the park for practice or while you're sounding the supper bell; they'll be there taunting you—and yours—with colorful frozen confections, complete with an impressive assortment of Marvel and Nick characters.

Chilling, isn't it?

Judging from the steady stream of parental 'NOs!' and subsequent juvenile 'I-want-ice-cream' meltdowns in no less than three separate locations during a two-hour window yesterday afternoon, many parents are running low on patience—and dollars—with the seasonal sugar stalking of the sunny months. Bring on the Hot Cocoa trucks already, please. (Or, at least, more ice cream options with less high fructose corn syrup….)

Oh, and you gotta love the fact that they always take up the most convenient parking spots and/or emergency zones...note the hydrant in the pic!

And Now for Something Healthy AND Fun for Kids:

Marcy Thompson sent in word of something parents suffering from inane tween situation comedy overload will enthusiastically embrace:
