Cultural Competency Workshop for Teachers

For Teachers: Thursday, April 10, 2014 3:30 – 5:00 PM, Columbia High School Library. Earn 2 professional development hours. Join us for a FREE workshop on cultural competency and how it affects communication between teachers, students, and parents. It will be led by Bari Katz, Director, Youth and Collegiate Services American Conference on Diversity and will include classroom activities and strategies for creating inclusive classrooms and interactive exercises. Educators will be able to:● Explore cultural dynamics in the classroom● Enhance student learning by adopting cultural competency principles● Build more inclusive and affirming classrooms● Navigate diversity in the classroom● Strengthen teacher/parent communication. Attending the workshop makes you eligible to win a scholarship to summer educators’ institute at Fairleigh Dickinson – 28 ceu hours!
