New Community Walking/Pedometer Program to Launch at "Maplewood Loves Wellness" Week

Maplewoodians have just three days to sign up for the free
six-week community walking program which launches this weekend as part of
Maplewood Loves Wellness week.  Led by Certified Wellcoach, Risa Olinsky
of Count on Yourself Coaching, this pilot program includes weekly coaching
sessions and a free pedometer to track progress.

Maplewood residents can sign up online (link below) to
participate by Friday, September 19 at noon. If there are more than 40
applicants by then, we will draw names by lottery at the Wellness Fair on
Saturday, September 21. If not, all will be accepted into the program.

Maplewood is a very walk-able community. The program’s goal is
to encourage walking to improve participant’s overall health and well-being and
while doing so, build community. Wearing a pedometer is highly motivating –
generally, we hope numbers pertaining to our health will go down, but when
tracking steps we look for them to go up,” says Olinsky.

·
Attend two telephone conference group-coaching sessions and two live
educational presentations in Maplewood locations.

·
Participate in 4 group walking sessions within the six-week period. These
sessions will be offered at different times/locations throughout Maplewood.

·
Walk as much as possible and keep a daily record of steps as instructed.

·
Report weekly steps to Risa Olinsky by email, fax or phone.

·
Complete a follow-up survey assessing personal goals and the goals of the
