Saving the Seeds: the Story of America’s Greatest Seed Houses

Since 1784 the D. Landreth
Seed Company has been providing one of the world’s most extensive selections of
fine lawn and garden seeds. The firm introduced America to some of our favorite
seeds, including the Zinnia, the white potato, various tomato varieties and
their own Bloomsdale spinach. Barbara Melera is President and CEO of the
Landreth Seed Company, as well as an instructor at Rutgers Gardens in New
Freedom, PA and she will introduce us to the Why’s and How’s of saving the
seeds.

Find
out what makes some seeds so special Monday, January 6, 7:30 PM at the
Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker St., Maplewood, NJ. The meeting is open to
the public, admission is free and refreshments (often home made!) are served.
