Community Corner

SOMSD Parenting Center Annual Toy Drive

Every year our two communities come together to support The Parenting Center's Annual Toy Drive which benefits the neediest children in our school district.  Children and families who are eligible for the Toy Drive receive free & reduced lunches in our schools as these families live below the poverty line.  Every year, for the last 13 years, we donate new and unwrapped gifts to over 150 families; the number of children who receive these presents can be anywhere from 300-450, depending often on the economic conditions of that particular year.  You may purchase and/or donate gifts at the following locations around our two towns:  Scriveners, Sparkhouse, Kokoro(has children's items in the back of the store), Keller Williams, Bass Family Chiropractic, & Geralyn's Art Studio.   You may also make a donation at www.hkproject.org (press the donate button) which will give those donations to the Parenting Center.  You may also drop off items at The Parenting Center, BOE, 525 Academy Street, Maplewood.  You may also send in gifts to your child's school.  All schools have donation boxes.
