The 6th Annual Open Door Nursery School "Sip & Shop" Fundraiser

Kick start your holiday shopping, pick up a birthday gift, or indulge yourself with a trinket or two at the 6th Annual Open Door Nursery School “Sip & Shop” Fundraiser.

Join us on Tuesday, October 22nd from 7-10pm at the Maplewood Tennis Club (489 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood, NJ - on Tennis Lane) for an enjoyable evening of “kid-free” shopping.

“This is the sixth year Open Door Nursery School has hosted a Fall boutique fundraiser," says Carol Fardin, co-chairperson of the event. “Every year it gets a little bigger. It's a wonderful way to get a headstart on holiday shopping, but it's also just a fun night out and a great way to support local businesses.

For a $10 donation at the door, those in attendance will receive light refreshments, complimentary wine, and an intimate setting in which to browse the season’s hottest products. Vendors include local retailers and independent merchandisers selling unique and wonderful items, including:

- Accessories
- Handbags
- Jewelry
- Home goods
- Fashion
- Children’s gifts
- and more!

Most vendors will accept either cash or personal checks. And in addition to the donation at the door, ten percent of all proceeds will also go to Open Door Nursery School.

Located at the Wyoming Presbyterian Church in Millburn, Open Door Nursery School has been a fixture in the Millburn, Short Hills, Maplewood, and South Orange communities since the early 1960s. The school’s mission is to provide an atmosphere for young children, ages 2.5 to 5, that is responsive to the development of the whole child and is committed to physical, intellectual, social, and emotional well-being of each student.

“Open Door Nursery School is a not-for-profit institution,” says Director Alethea Randazza. “We are wholly dependent upon tuition and fundraisers for our operations.  The ‘Sip & Shop’ evening is our big public event for Fall – in the past, the funds we've raised from it have gone toward purchasing new play equipment, updating our facilities, and providing staff development and classroom supplies. It’s an important night for us, and it’s also a lot of fun.”

"Sip & Shop is a great excuse to get friends together, especially since we have all been so busy with the start of school,” says Heidi McGowan, co-chairperson of the event. “It’s open to the public so I plan on grabbing a couple of girlfriends from my street and heading over to the Tennis Club for a great night."
