The Center for Great Expectations Annual Ken Daneyko Golf Classic

The Annual Ken Daneyko Golf Classic for the Center for Great Expectations

Somerset, NJ – The Center for Great Expectations, a residential treatment center for homeless, pregnant and parenting women and adolescents, and their children, will hold their annual Ken Daneyko Golf Classic on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Registration opens at 9:45am and the event runs until 8pm.

The Center for Great Expectations is most grateful for the event’s namesake, Ken Daneyko, legendary star of the New Jersey Devils, for his commitment and dedication to this major fundraiser. Located in Union, NJ, the Suburban Golf Club will provide beautiful setting for a wonderful pre-game brunch, followed by a fabulous round of golf. There will be a lot of excitement on the par 3 holes where golfers have the chance to win three different Hole-in-One contests. Prizes include two cars, sponsored by Fullerton Ford and Prestige BMW, and two 2014 Rutgers Football Season Tickets, sponsored by Rutgers University. The grand reception includes an amazing buffet dinner, along with both a silent and live auction containing prizes such as the NJ Devils Luxury Suite for 12 people. The highlight of the event is the courageous story told by a client, sharing her personal story, giving insight into the desperate cycle of addiction and the success that the programs at the Center for Great Expectations can provide.

"The women and adolescents who come to the Center have a variety of issues, many of which originate from childhood trauma. They are now homeless, pregnant and with children. They struggle with substance use and/or mental health disorders," said Peg Wright, the Center’s President. "The Center’s housing, effective recovery programs, and onsite childcare gives them a safe place, safe presence, and safe path so they can move forward."

The organization, which serves all of New Jersey, attributes its success to their skilled clinical staff and the support from their donors, grantors, and volunteers. Most recently the Center doubled its residential services with the addition of 16 units of Permanent Supportive Housing at AvalonSomerset.
