Tina Kelley Poetry Reading

Local author Tina Kelley reads from Precise, her new book of poetry. Part of the Third Saturday Arts series, the reading will take place in a salon-style atmosphere amidst the artwork of Serge Sinitsyn. Refreshments will be served and Kelley's daughter will play selections on the piano.

Kelley's first book of poetry, The Gospel of Galore, won a 2003 Washington State Book Award. Her poems have appeared in The Best American Poetry 2009, Southwest Review, Prairie Schooner, and The Journal of the American Medical Association, among other publications. her first non-fiction book, Almost Home: Helping Kids Move from Homelessness to Hope, co-authored with Kevin M. Ryan, was published to critical acclaim in 2012. A former New York Times reporter, Kelley worked on the paper's metro desk for ten years and was part of the team that won a Pulitzer Prize in public service for the paper's coverage of the September 11 attacks. She wrote 121 "Portraits of Grief," profiles of the victims, which appeared in the book Portraits 9/11/01. Kelley lives in Maplewood with her husband and two children.
