What's the Buzz? An Update on Durand-Hedden's Busy Beehives

What’s
the Buzz?: An Update on the Busy Beehives at Durand-Hedden

Join Durand-Hedden’s beekeepers in Grasmere Park Sunday, September
29 as they report on the progress of their two thriving honeybee hives. Bees
are vitally important to our world, but many are disappearing due to the
mysterious malady of colony-collapse disorder.
At 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. our beekeepers will describe what
occurs in a year of the life of a hive and what bees require to keep their
environment healthy.  Each session will
end with an explanation of what honey is and a taste testing of honey varieties
with different flavors.

 From 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. the
Country Store will also be open, with its unique selection of souvenirs and
books, many at discounted prices.

The Durand-Hedden House and
surrounding Grasmere Park were designated a Maplewood Historic Landmark in
2006.  The Durand-Hedden House and Garden
Association is dedicated to telling the story of the development of Maplewood
and the surrounding area in new and engaging ways.
