Local Artist Welcomes All to New Studio

Local artist, Tara O'Leary will be hosting a weekend of Art, Travel and holiday cheer at her new Maplewood studio on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24.

The new studio is located at 155 Maplewood Ave, just above Maplewood Movie Theater.

“We sold our home in the Montrose section of South Orange and it seemed like the perfect time to find to an off site studio,” said O'Leary. “The minute I saw the space I knew it would be perfect for painting and showing my work, the expansive 900 square foot loft-like space has incredible light and hard wood floors, the building itself is rich with history in the arts. The theater dates back to its original burlesque shows and there has been many artist in my space throughout the buildings long history.”

O'Leary's newest works include landscapes of Tuscany, Ireland and our local treasure South Mountain Reservation, in pastel, encaustic and acrylic.

A sneak peek will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. Art, music and cocktails will follow from 7 to 10 p.m.

On Sunday, Nov. 24, Geralyn Robinson and Tara O'Leary will discuss their painting trips abroad.

“After the first landscape I painted I knew the space would support my creativity it was as if all the artists that came before me helped that painting flow,” said O'Leary. “It was the best confirmation that the space was right.”
