Local Costumed Canines Named Winners of 'Strut Your Mutt'

Essex County hosted two annual parades and canine costume contests on Saturday in county dog parks. 

A morning event was held at Brookdale Dog Park in Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair followed by an afternoon event at South Mountain Dog Park in South Mountain Reservation in Maplewood/Millburn. 

The following local dogs were declared winners:

• Felicity Crew from South Orange and her pet Nibbler, who were dressed as Bacon and Eggs, won second place in the Best Owner-Pet Costume Category.
  
  
• Nila Schomfeld from Maplewood and her pet Georgia, who was dressed as "Georgia Steers Clear of the Cannibal," won second place in the Scariest Costume Category.
  
  
•  Liz McCoy from Maplewood and her pets Hallie and Trixie, who dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, won third place in the Best Owner-Pet Costume Category.
  
  
• Amanda Conde from Maplewood and her pet Oreo, who was dressed as Miss Piggy, won third place in the Most Creative Costume Category.
