Village Trustee Michael Goldberg is not running for re-election

South Orange Village Trustee Michael Goldberg will not run for re-election. As a Maplewood resident, I am quite sorry to hear this.

We share so much with South Orange. Our schools, our court house but most importantly our history as sister communities. As a result, I have always made it my business to follow South Orange's political "theater", where anything that can happen seems to happen!

Like Maplewood, I noticed that some of the local politicians there were more ego driven than perhaps we might like. However, one man, Michael Goldberg is not like that by any stretch of the imagination. An extremely likable fellow and very approachable. In many ways, I honestly believed he could not only re-shape South Orange but Maplewood too through honest, deliberate conversations that focused on shared services.

Sadly, we won't see that day, at least for now, because Mr. Goldberg has decided to step away from the world of local politics. His name will not be on the ballot this May 14th. A real crying shame because we need more like him, not less. He says he needs to focus more of his energy on his family and his career and that is understandable but still, is there still no way we can share you?

Thank You, Mr. Goldberg for serving. Your friends and supporters in not only South Orange tip their cap to you, so do we just across the border!
