Morrow Church Remembers Mark McCombs

Columbia High School PE teacher was also a Methodist minister.

The South Orange and Maplewood community was shocked yesterday at the news that Columbia High School Health and Physical Education teacher Mark McCombs .

Besides working at the school district since 1999 and working as a football coach, McCombs, a husband and father of four, was also a minister. He was remembered this morning in a message from the in Maplewood:

Morrow Church Family,

Please join me in praying for the family of Rev. Mark McCombs, who passed away suddenly Tuesday morning. Rev. McCombs was serving the United Methodist Church in Orange, NJ, and was a Physical Education teacher at Columbia High School in Maplewood.  Rev. McCombs was a passionate pastor who reached out to all of God's people, especially those who were seen to be on the margins.  Rev. McCombs and his wife, Roselyn, have four children.

In moments like these our United Methodist Connection brings us together to support those who serve and those who are in need.  In anticipation of a District appeal for memorial gifts to support McCombs' family and congregation, I would like to encourage our congregation to make a collective gift in his memory.  If you would like to contribute to this fund, please send a check to the church office, or place it in the offering plate with "Memory: Mark McCombs" in the memo.

I encourage anyone who knew Rev/Mr. McCombs to share signs of love and support with his family and congregation.

May God's grace embrace us,

Pastor Chris (Heckert)
