Fraud in Mplewood Town Hall? Are you a victim?

My Husband and I moved to Maplewood 12 years ago.  We were given information and verification from town hall that the property oil tank was removed.  Now we are selling our property and the buyer's inspector found a 550 galloin oil drum. Maplewood town hall said it made a mistake and it was only decommissioned.   We contacted A1 Tank Service, who supposedly "removed" the tank. They stated that they could not move the tank because pipes were in the way.  Well, we had the tank removed, there were no pipes in the way, but the tank did have a hole. Now we have invested over $3K and were told another $10K is required for remediationn.  Townhall told us that they will not pay becuase there is a law that protects the town from "inadequate and negligent inspections."  Meanwhile, the same inspector that worked in Maplewood in 2001 is still working for Maplewood. When all the information was shared he simply shrugged his shoulders.  Why do we pay thousands and thousands of dollars in taxes for an incompetant inspector. Surely, Maplewood town hall should be held accountable for this mess as A1 tank service.  I have already heard from another Maplewood family how this has happened to them.  Is there anyone else out there who have gone through the same thing?  Maplewood Town Inspector should have disciplinary action taken against him.
