Take a Hike for Eagle Island

If you ever experienced GS Camp Eagle Island, on Upper Saranac Lake, NY, then  join us for a hike to stop the Girl Scouts from selling our National Landmark Camp. For seventy years this popular camp provided local girls with life changing summers on a secluded island amongst the tall peaks of the Adirondack Park. The island was donated to the Girl Scouts of the Oranges and Maplewood in 1937 by the Graves family in memory of their two sons who died tragically.  If the GS sell the island for private profit, they are violating the donors intent, that it should always remain a special place for girls to learn leadership skills and experience nature in this unique iland setting. All during the month of October, EIC supporters are hiking across the country and abroad to save our camp.  Locally, we will hike the South Mountain Reservation on Sat. Oct. 12, meeting at 10:30 at Locust Grove, across from the Millburn train station.
To see a list of all hikes and to make an on line tax deductible donation go to www.friendsofeagleisland.org or send a check to Friends of Eagle Island, P.O. Box 245 Livingston, NJ 07039.  See you Saturday rain or shine!
