Alleged Bank Robber's Photo Released, Probe Continues

Man allegedly stole more than $1K from Bank of America on Maplewood Avenue last weekend.

Maplewood Police released a photo Friday afternoon of a man wanted in last Saturday's robbery of a Bank of America on Maplewood Avenue.

The man is described as a black male 6-feet tall with a thin build and a moustache and is 25 to 30 years old, according to Sgt. Christopher Black. The man was wearing a gray sweat suit and a gray and red baseball hat with the word "cougars" on it. Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to contact the Maplewood Police Department at 973-762-3400.

The man allegedly passed the teller a note stating he had a gun and instructed the teller to place the money from her drawer into a small plastic bag he handed her, Black said. After the teller placed the money, which totaled approximately $1,100, in the bag, the man took the bag and walked out of the bank, Black said.
