Car Hits Teenager on Springfield Avenue

Boy is struck at corner of Tuscan Street

 

A 14-year-old Maplewood boy was hit by a car at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Tuscan Street, according to Maplewood Police.

The boy was crossing the street at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 when he was hit by the car. The driver, a 35-year-old man from Newark, was turning left onto Springfield Avenue from Tuscan Street when he struck the boy.

The teenager was taken to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center to be evaluated for a leg injury. No further information is available about his condition, said Maplewood Police Capt. John Perna.

The driver was issued a summons. Police are investigating the incident.
