A 44-year-old Bergen County man has been accused of killing a Ramsey resident with a drug concoction in place of heroin and then had his teenage daughter destroy evidence, the prosecutor's office said.

The deadly mixture that included Fentanyl killed Daniel Lajterman, whose body was found last Sunday afternoon in his Roandis Court home, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.

Darius Ghahary, of Upper Saddle River, has been charged with first-degree strict liability for drug-induced death, second-degree manslaughter, hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence. He's also charged with maintaining a drug factory and distributing heroin.

His daughter, Alynn Ghahary, 19, has been charged with hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence.

Darius Ghahary is believed to have been dealing throughout the northern Bergen County area and anyone who has drugs from him should not use them, Molinelli said.

According to Molinelli, Lajterman purchased from Darius Ghahary what he believed was heroin. However, he was given a "deadly poly-drug substance" that Ghahary mixed together, Molinelli said.

Fentanyl, a synthetic opiate that is 80 times more potent than Morphine, is believed to be among the substances Ghahary mixed, Molinelli said.

Lajterman, a Bergen Community College student, graduated in 2013 from Ramsey High School where he played football with Ghahary's son, according to NorthJersey.com.

"It is alleged that the drugs Ghahary sold to the victim directly led to the overdose and death," Molinelli said.

Search warrants were executed on Monday and Tuesday at Ghahary's residence and several of his storage facilities.

Large quantities of Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Xanax, Adderall, Hydromorphone, Synthetic THC, steroids, Molly (MDMA), marijuana and other drugs were found, Molinelli said.

The drugs were found in powder and pill forms and large quantities of packaging materials and mixing agents were found, Molinelli said.

"It is believed that Mr. Ghahary used these controlled dangerous substances and associated cutting agents to concoct his own mixture of drugs, which he purported to be heroin," Molinelli said.

Darius Ghahary is being held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

Addiction begins with choices; while I do have sympathy for people with addictions, it still all starts when very poor choices are made. So, yes, the addicts are accountable. It's not a secret that drugs are addictive.

Hey Gay Republican (IF THAT IS UR REAL NAME) you have a lot of nerve coming on here and spewing your uneducated hate speech! Have you ever READ the bible? What happened to love thy neighbor? Well I got news for you, Mr. Falwell, I'm FROM Ramsey! I knew both of these families and the community is stricken with grief. I know Gods not real, I know this poor young boy is now suspended in a state of nothingness, how do you think that makes me FEEL? I don't need you and your self righteous BULL CRAP on a page of a poor young soul that died far too soon! Go pack into your Fox News Vatican gangbang and read some Hawking, asshole! Your whole world is a fictitious lie of self hatred and blame spewing nonsense! Leave us be and don't violate the lives of those that want to remove ourselves from religious bigotry! That being said, we need to address the real problem here. Just a few days ago there was a from page story on the Bergen Record about how so far this year there has been a total of over 1 opiate related death per week in BERGEN COUNTY. We need to seriously adress this problem within our communities. Families NEED to keep better watch of their children and drug test them regularly! As parents, we need to take the responsibility of preserving our own children's lives because it is in danger every time they hang out with friends, go to a party, or even walk into their drug filled high schools! It is a big problem here, and not just for Bergen County. Throughout the entire nation, heavy drug abuse is becoming more and more prevalent in affluent areas. We need to realize this is a serious problem and it is greatly diminishing the possibilties of the future generation when so many of them are being whiped out of existence far too early! We know where these drugs are coming from... Come on people, open your eyes! In a land of the TSA and such heightened international security and border patrols, how can these drugs come into our nation and directly into our communities? Everyone knows heroin can only be grown in the Middle East... Everyone knows the scrutiny that flights coming from the Middle East into the United States are under... ADDRESS THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM PEOPLE!! The CIA is letting drugs into our country because they are trying to ERADICATE THE NEXT GENERATION BEFORE IT EVEN GROWS UP! We need to bring back traditional family values and keep the traditional family order in tact before the NEW WORLD ORDER PREVAILS!
