Construction Worker Killed in Internal Building Collapse

Another worker was seriously injured in Friday morning incident at Coda Kitchen & Bar.

A construction worker was killed and another was seriously injured Friday morning when masonry work collapsed inside a Maplewood Avenue restaurant.

The first floor of Coda Kitchen & Bar collapsed into the basement, trapping one man "under a good amount of rubble," Maplewood Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Callaghan told NJ.com.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.

The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
