A man was allegedly assaulted and robbed by five teenagers on Chancellor Avenue, according to Sgt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Department.

The man reported that one of the teenagers punched him in the face and tried to wrap his arm around him, but the man was able to escape, Black said. The teenagers ran towards Springfield Ave on Chancellor Ave and split up, he said.

Black described the teenagers as being between 15-17 years old and wearing dark clothing. The man did not see any weapons on the teenagers. Police called an ambulance, but the victim refused medical attention, said Black.
