Maplewood Man Robbed and Beaten on Tuscan Street, Cops Say

Group of men allegedly punch and kick man on his way home from work.

A group of men reportedly jumped a 24-year-old Maplewood man as he was walking home from work early Monday morning, beating him and stealing his wallet, said Capt. John Perna.

The incident happened at 12:45 a.m. when the man was approached by a group of 4-5 men on Tuscan Street, said Perna. The men allegedly assaulted him and took his wallet before fleeing on foot, Perna said. The man received abrasions but was not seriously injured, said Perna, and no weapons were reported to have been used.

Maplewood Police detectives are actively investigating the incident, said Perna.

On North Crescent, they basically block an entire lane in order to position themselves diagonally for speeders on Prospect. Now, I agree that they should be there due to the pre school across the street and lets be honest, people speed on Prospect and it's an escape route for lowlives, but they should not be parked diagonally on the block.

Until someone is killed/hurt by a speeding car - then you will all ask " where were the police?!? Why didn't they stop them?!" The police cannot be everywhere at all times. Stop complaining about them cracking down on speeding and start neighborhood watches in your area. You also just KNOW once the police start moving groups of people along on the streets, there will be people complaining about "profiling" etc. Fact is, the police get little respect or help in Maplewood/So.

Ummm...Truth Sayer that was a bit of an intense reaction to the posts. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion of wanting to see more patrol cars driving the streets. I'm not in the position of knowing how many cars are out at any one time, i'm sure there is enough (and if not it should be looked at) to have some patrolilng and some sitting watching for speeders. I have MUCH respect for the police in town!

Meghan, I think you need to read all the above posts again.
