Maplewood Man Robbed at Gunpoint in South Orange

A Maplewood man was robbed while walking on West Montrose Ave. in South Orange, police say.

A Maplewood man was robbed at gunpoint while walking through South Orange Village, Thursday, police said.

He was walking on West Montrose Ave. near Clark Street at 11 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 when he was approached by three black men, according to a police report.

One of the men pointed a gun and demanded he turn over his cell phone and wallet, police said.

The three men fled to a parked car and sped off going North on Valley Road into Orange.

“The incident was reported to the Police three hours after it had occurred,” police said.

The South Orange Police Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
