Burglaries, Car Theft Under Investigation in Maplewood

Police remind residents to lock their homes, garages and cars after recent incidents.

Maplewood Police are investigating several burglaries that occurred between Thursday and Sunday.

Police were traveling on Schaefer Road at about 11:30 a.m. and saw a house with its front door wide open last Thursday, police said. Further investigation revealed the home had been burglarized.

The homeowner reported electronics and and undisclosed amount of cash were taken.

That same day, a resident of Boyden Avenue reported entry into her home had been gained during the day while she was outside gardening. Jewelry and a purse were reported stolen, police said.

A Dodge Caravan was stolen overnight Sunday while parked in the driveway of a Union Avenue home, police said.

“All incidents are currently under investigation by the Detective Bureau,” a police statement said. “Residents are asked to practice good crime prevention techniques and secure their garages and automobiles when left unattended.”
