Maplewood Teen Struck and Robbed

Maplewood Police report seven robberies and burglaries between Oct. 15 and Oct. 20.

A 16-year old Maplewood boy was walking home on Tuscan Road around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 when a group of teens struck him with an object, police said.

The group knocked him to the ground and stole his backpack and cell phone, according to a police report.

Police are also reporting several other burglaries in which a bicycle was stolen from a Menzel Ave. home and an iPad and jewelry was taken from a home on South Pierson Road. Police believe both homes were entered during the day on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

An iPad was also stolen from an Oakview Ave. home between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17. A home on Irvington Ave. was broken into the next day and a laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

Two Dodge Caravans were stolen from 50 Burnett Ave. overnight on Oct. 18. Both vehicles were recovered later the same day. A Jeep Cherokee was also stolen from a Valley St. home, police said.

All incidents are currently under investigation by the Detective Bureau.  Residents are asked to practice good crime prevention techniques and secure their garages and automobiles when left unattended.
