Two Maplewood youths were arrested Friday in
South Orange for carrying a realistic-looking pellet gun on
Irvington Avenue, police said.
A call came into the South Orange
Police Department at 4 p.m. Friday, informing police that two kids
were walking on Irvington Avenue with a weapon, according to the report.
Officers responded and found the weapon was a metal pellet gun that resembled a real gun.
A pellet gun is still considered a
firearm, whether it shoots metal pellets or paintballs, South
Orange Police Capt. Kyle Kroll said.
The pair were taken into custody and processed at police headquarters.
