Municipal Alliance Brings Police to Columbia HS

Uniformed officers are a presence at CHS

Columbia High School may have noticed police officers in the school lately. Maplewood police are present at high school thanks to a South Orange and Maplewood Municipal Alliance program.  The Alliances fund a part-time school resource officer (SRO) at Columbia High School, whose job is to build positive bridges between the police department and the community.

"We are grateful to the Municipal Alliance programs and to the Maplewood Police Department for their ongoing support of our schools and for fostering proactive and positive connections with our students," said South Orange - Maplewood School District Communications Director Suzanne Turner.

And to think, back in the late 60s, early 70s all we had was famous Mr. "O" Security Officer who spent much time in cloudy, smoke laden boys bathrooms...ahhhh those were the days!

Ah, "00-Sinsky", when he wasn't in the boys room, he was on the corner of Valley and Parker, making sure no one left "campus" during school without a pass... Good memories...
