May 24: Maplewood police are investigating overnight damage to a 2010 Nissan Maxima on Irvington Avenue. The owner told police he parked the car at 8:30 p.m. the previous day and when he returned the next morning, he noticed the windows were rolled down and the driver’s side door lock was damaged. In addition, the owner said the glove box had been rummaged through but no items were reported missing.
May 25: Maplewood police have arrested Robert Wright, 39, of Newark, charging him with shoplifting after store employees at Walgreens, located at 1633 Springfield Ave. saw him place several boxes of condoms and several boxes of Advil from the store. After further investigation, police determined Wright was also wanted in both East Orange and Maplewood.
May 26: A Burnett Avenue business employee told police someone damaged his dump truck by breaking the two front headlights and detaching the passenger’s side convex mirror.
May 27: Maplewood police are investigating a burglary to a Crestwood Drive home in which someone broke the rear door of the home between 4 p.m. on May 25 and 6:35 p.m. on May 27 and stole jewelry and credit cards.
May 28: Maplewood police are investigating a burglary to a Park Avenue home in which someone entered the home through an unlocked rear window sometime between 4 p.m. on May 26 and noon on May 28 and rummaged through the house. It has not been determined if anything was missing.
May 28: Maplewood police are investigating graffiti left in the playground area of the Jefferson School on Ridgewood Road. Anyone with information, should contact the Youth Aid Bureau at 973-762-3400.
