Young Maplewood Men Arrested on Robbery Charges

Two Maplewood men were arrested for trying to force their way into a home with a pellet gun, police say.

Two young Maplewood men were arrested, Wednesday, after trying to force their way into a home with what appeared to be a handgun, police said.

On Wednesday, Aug. 28, a Brown Street resident called 911 and told police that two men with a handgun tried to force their way into their home. Police then began searching the neighborhood.

Officer Richard Wright saw two men fitting the suspects' description just one block away on Boyden Ave, said Maplewood Sgt. Christopher Black.

Brandon Frost, 21 and Erik Winbourne, 19, both of Maplewood were arrested after police found they had a large metal pellet gun.

They were taken to police headquarters and charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Bail was set at $250,000 before the pair were taken to Essex County Jail, said Black.
