Chickens, Dogs and Cats Have Their Day in Maplewood

The Maplewood Health Department is offering two events for dogs and cats, and is accepting applications for its backyard chicken raising program, according to Health Officer Robert Roe.

Here is the information:

  • A free dog and cat rabies vaccination clinic will take place at the Maplewood Fire Station on Dunnell Road Saturday, March 2 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dogs must be on leashes and cats in carriers.

  • In cooperation with the Health Dept., the Humane Society will hold a low cost wellness day for dogs and cats on March 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 pm.  This is not for spaying/neutering, which will be done again at a future date.

 

  • Applications for backyard chicken raising are now being accepted.  Up to fifteen residences will be permitted to have up to five chickens.  Contact Health Officer, healthofficer@twp.maplewood.nj.us or 973-762-8120 x4400 for details.
