DeHart Center is Open as Shelter for Sandy

Mayor announces at press conference.

 

DeHart Community Center is open for use as an emergency shelter during Hurricane Sandy, said Mayor Vic DeLuca on Monday morning at a press conference at Town Hall.

"We are prepared," said DeLuca.

He said the shelter had cots and blankets, though no shower facilities. Maplewood Health Director Robert Roe suggested that people wishing to use the shelter bring medications and an overnight bag.

Pets are allowed, as long as they are in a carrier or on a leash.

DeHart Center is at 120 Burnett Avenue, Maplewood.
