The Maplewood Township Committee unanimously voted to install two stop signs on Essex Ave. at the Intersection of South 4th Street.
The signs will be installed on both sides of the road, according to the ordinance.
The Maplewood Planning and Engineering Committee investigated the intersection after public concerns over safety were brought to its attention.
The committee determined that there have been recent traffic accidents at that intersection and that it requires traffic control measures. The stop signs will be installed based on the “interest of safety and the expeditious movement of traffic.”
The Maplewood Township Committee adopted the ordinance on final passage during the Oct. 15 meeting.
